For the International Trailer Awards 2025, Kässbohrer was nominated with its latest developments in aerodynamics and further developments in longer higher capacity vehicles.

International Trailer Awards 2025 Nominated: Kässbohrer Multifunctional Aerodynamic Transformation Vehicles, K-MAT in category “Body” 

To increase the aerodynamic performance and to result in subsequent fuel reductions, Kässbohrer analyzed already existing features on its trailers that fulfill other functions and redesigned the respective components to embody aerodynamic functions.

As opposed to add-on aerodynamic devices, the innovation leads to more efficient and environmental friendly vehicle construction.  In Kässbohrer Aerodynamic Transformation vehicles K-MAT, the toolbox, spare wheel holder and mandatory side protection devices continue to fulfill their original purpose while with their new design embody aerodynamic functions as well.

Kässbohrer’s redesigned aerodynamic toolbox and spare wheel holder device, named K-MAT 1, yields up to 1.2% aerodynamic improvement consequently 0.3% less fuel consumption and carbon emissions.

Kässbohrer’s redesigned telescopic side protection K-MAT 2, yields up to 4% aerodynamic improvement consequently 1.1% less fuel consumption. With it’s under 2 minutes extension and retraction performance, K-MAT 2 equipped vehicles can safely be loaded on rail wagons as well ferries. K-MAT 2 combines emission savings from aerodynamics with benefits of intermodal transport. 

Kässbohrer K-MAT vehicles in total yield up to 5.2% aerodynamic improvement and up to1.4% fuel savings, 380 liters per trailer per year on average. With K-MAT, Kässbohrer expands its net-zero emission transition product offerings and supports its customers and industry’s goals. 

International Trailer Awards 2025 Nominated: Kässbohrer 12-15 Flexi Curtainsider in category “Chassis”

Within the EU, there are different regulations for vehicle dimensions and capacities. While Nordic region allows for 25-25 m and 32 m longer higher capacity vehicles, the standard in EU is 13.6 m semi-trailers. Furthermore, within 10 EU countries and UK allow for 15 m vehicles while within cities trailers with maximum length of 12m are permitted. Kässbohrer designed 12-15 Flexi Curtainsider vehicle which is an all-in-one-vehicle compliant with all EU wide dimensions.  Built on Kässbohrer’s leading award winning extension engineering, 12-15 Flexi curtainsider is a practically extendable and retractable curtainsider vehicle. A prime example of Enginuity, the extension and retraction can be done while the vehicle is loaded. When fully retracted, the vehicle is 12 m in length and while fully extended the vehicle is 15 m in length. The standard operating length is 13.6 m.

Kässbohrer 12-15 Flexi Curtainsider eliminates multiple vehicle investment needs of transport companies, increases the load factor in operations, saves on raw materials for the manufacturing of new vehicles, and saves on time and cost of cargo handling operations.

Kässbohrer is taking its place at IAA Transportation 2024, in Hall 27 Stand E11, as well as open area M51. Kässbohrer will showcase its latest innovations to its customers and stakeholders between 17-22 September, in Hannover Germany.
