Kässbohrer Launches Kässbohrer New Reefer Series

Leading European trailer manufacturer, Kässbohrer launches its new reefer series which presents the Kässbohrer’s acclaimed robust chassis and GRP panel technology. Developed and tested in the Kässbohrer R&D Center, the new reefer series stands out with its top class insulation, long product life and functional features that maximize operational efficiency and capacity utilization. 

Acclaimed robustness for cold-chain transportation now available

Kässbohrer reefer chassis offers the perfect balance of engineering and ingenuity with its gooseneck chassis integration into the floor and strong one-piece king pin structure consistently top performing in coupling operations while facilitating road stability and safety even in uneven loading.

Whereas the integration of the robust gooseneck chassis into the floor creates a solid foundation for chassis and box body integration, integrated gooseneck ensures maximum utilization of the internal space, with no loss of internal net height.

Furthermore, Kässbohrer’s robust chassis’s wheelbase and width is optimized to maximize the coupled vehicle’s maneuverability and stability.

The chassis is manufactured with highly efficient structural and high purity S700MC steel, known for its exceptional strength. The cataphoretic dip coating (KTL) process for chassis guarantees no rust perforation for 10 years and high preservation of vehicle value.

The floor design enables a lightweight but reinforced floor construction that can withstand 7.2 ton forklift axle load for fast and challenging operations.

Top Class Isolated box constructed to endure the test of time

Kässbohrer reefer box panels are constructed with the GRP (Glass Reinforced Polyester) polyurethane panel technology to provide top class insulation. Consequently, you can significantly reduce the running time of your refrigeration unit, saving up to on 9300* eur fuel cost savings in 5 years, compared to metal covered panels.

Kässbohrer GRP panel is layered with UV resistant and no scratch maintenance GRP and optimum density polyurethane and tested for layer adhesion with 11,534 kN to guarantee maximum performance and durability. 

To ensure the structural uniformity of the box for longer product life, Kässbohrer maximized the adhesion surface in all side panel connections. Adhesion is applied on two axes at the all-panel junctions to make sure that the box is firm but able to adjust to the road conditions along with the chassis.

Furthermore, the box connection points are protected with anodized aluminum one-piece and rivetless moldings, the rear frame is made of single piece stainless steel to provide the maximum stability to the overall box construction.

Door double locks, located in pairs on each door, provide operational efficiency and ease of use by reducing the force needed to close rear doors. The door locks are made of stainless-steel material with a high level of corrosion resistance, thus remaining robust for many years.

To enhance product life, the rear frame is protected along all edges with high-capacity rubber ramp buffers to absorb the impacts during loading and unloading operations. Reliably secured aluminum hinges are customs-compliant to prevent cargo theft. The bumper is designed with vertical rubbers and innovative cylindrical single roll galvanized stainless steel shock absorber ramp buffers for maximum impact absorption.

Chassis and box connection vigorously tested to provide you the perfect balance of stability and momentum.

To provide long product life and the best stability of the vehicle, Kässbohrer primarily performed computer aided component and system simulations in consideration of load distribution, stress concentrations and road stability to optimize the box chassis connection design.

Engineered to excellently perform in all road conditions as well as coupling operations, Kässbohrer engineers conducted dynamic off-road tests, equivalent to 1.000.000 km, guaranteeing structural integrity for long lifetime.  

Box is equipped with state-of-the-art air circulation system for homogeneous air flow.

For superior air circulation and optimum cooling unit performance, Kässbohrer engineers designed the ventilation cover, compatible with all premium cooler units.  The holes on the ventilation cover are designed for homogenous air flow in the whole box starting from the first exit point of the air. The ventilation double tube tunnel system ensures homogeneous airflow inside the box by evenly cooling every area within the vehicle in single deck, double deck, multi temperature for fresh and frozen goods, flowers, and pharma transportation.

To ensure continuous air circulation and to protect the cooling unit, Kässbohrer also offers optional patented foldable air circulation wall. Whereas the air circulation wall can be opened for fast cleaning, it simultaneously protects the goods loaded close to the registration unit from frosting.

Compliant with HACCP and Pharma certifications, the entire surface of the floor is covered with drop patterned aluminum which simultaneously increases operational safety by providing the advantage of an anti-slip surface. Furthermore, the aluminum floor design enables positioning vertical load bars at any place on the floor. The aluminum floor is welded to the aluminum 250 mm high kick plates for maximum durability and to ensure water tightness. Wastewater drainage facilitates fast and thorough cleaning process.

Various options for the maximum inner capacity utilization and operational efficiency

To provide operational efficiency and maximum capacity utilization, Kässbohrer offers recessed load securing rails.The integrated rails enable you to safely make use of the entire width of the vehicles, minimizing the risk of damage of panel during loading and  unloading.

Additionally, double deck bars are offered with 2.460 mm and 2.500 mm inner width. For double deck application, panels are equipped with 22 double-deck bars, each capable of withstanding 1,000 kg, to provide a total load capacity of 10 tons and up to 66 euro pallets on the second tier, ensuring operational efficiency and high capacity utilization.

The optional partition wall is offered with a movement range equal to 10.520 mm along the vehicle and enables transportation at two different temperatures for frozen and fresh goods. While one compartment can maintain -20 degrees, the second compartment can carry goods at +10 degrees.

Designed for no repair, easy maintenance

Kässbohrer reefer has been designed for easiest and most economical repairs, with its GRP panel as choice of construction. UV light resistant GRP panels require no maintenance in case of minimal scratching and light damage to the side panels as GRP is corrosion resistant as opposed to metal covered side panels. In cases of bigger damage GRP repair allows for localized and repeatable maintenance hence saving time and resources.

Kässbohrer’s extensive after sales network of 730 competent, regularly audited, and authorized service points support its customers in Europe with maintenance needs. 440 Service points are authorized for full body and chassis repair of new reefer series.

Kässbohrer reefer series are offered in 3 different product groups which are respectively, standard, doubledeck and flower transportation.

The new standard reefer K.SRI with its 1.000.000 km tested, gooseneck chassis integrated, strong one-piece king pin structure presents long life robustness and endurance in all road and loading conditions. The robust and precisely connected and protected GRP panel’s structure presents top of the class insulation with state of the art air circulation system for single deck, double deck, multi temperature for fresh and frozen goods, flowers and pharma transportation.

The 7.2 ton forklift axle accommodating robust floor is covered with anti-slip aluminum and panel-floor integrated kick plates for further robustness. The new door and bumper design is robust and fitted with rubber and galvanized stainless steel shock absorber ramp buffers for vehicle longevity. The new standard reefer presents inner height of 2.650 mm and the inner width of 2.460 mm at 7.200 kg tare weight is FRC, PHARMA, HACCP, CODE XL certified and is compatible with telematics of your choice. Self streeing axels and loading ramps are offered as options.   

The new double deck reefer K.SRI P maximizes the loading factor of the acclaimed robust and top of the class insulated reefer.  Presenting 2,900 mm internal height, 2,500 mm internal width at 7.200kg, the double-deck loading system consists of 24 embedded vertical rails and 22 double-deck beams.

Carrying capacity of each profile is 1000 kg. Therefore, the cargo can be transported up to 66 euro pallets instead of a maximum of 33.

The new flower carrier reefer K.SRI F is precisely designed for delicate flower transport. Offered with the inner height of 2.700 mm, and the internal width of 2.500 mm, K.SRI F’provide optimum loading volume while providing top class insulation to keep all kinds of goods fresh.

Equipped with flaps on front and rear panel to provide ventilation in the box to keeping flowers more fresh during operations.
