Sustainability Efficiency: Bergwerff invests in 10 Kässbohrer Huckepack Curtainsiders
For its specialty intermodal transport, logistics company Bergwerff Transport Service from Breda/The Netherlands purchased ten Kässbohrer huckepack curtainsiders K.SCS M, especially designed for intermodal transport, and put them into operation en route to Italy on rail.
Guided by its core values, safe, responsible and in partnership Bergwerff specializes in groupage, FTL, air cargo, pharma, high value goods transport with monitoring between Netherlands and Italy. As one of the few select companies in Europe to have TAPA 1-2-3 certifications Bergwerff invests in lower emission trucks as well as special training programs to reduce its CO2 emissions. When the time came to invest in the efficiency of its intermodal operations, Bergwerff chose Kässbohrer as its partner.
Bergwerff’s Operations & Security Manager Kevin Bergwerff: “We have been in transport business between Netherlands and Italy for over 40 years. We accept our customer’s requests as our challenge and when our customer demanded more efficiency and less CO₂ emissions for their tire transportation needs we said yes. To guarantee the speed and quality of the intermodal operation we chose Kässbohrer’s robust, tire transport certified and fast operating huckepack curtainsiders. We are satisfied with our choice, so is our customer from our performance. We are glad to address this challenge in partnership with Kässbohrer as they too make it personal when addressing their customer’s requirements.”
Mehmet Önen, Head of Key Account at Kässbohrer in Goch/Germany, thanked Bergwerff on the acquisition: “We at Kässbohrer are committed to sustainability, and meeting the unique transformation needs of industry, with intermodal transport being a major component in this transformation. Kässbohrer has the unrivaled intermodal product range with its award winning container chassis and award winning swap bodies including Europe’s lightest swap body. In line with our expertise Kässbohrer’s huckepack curtainsider and box vehicles are designed in detail and manufactured to highest quality to efficiently perform in demanding rail loading operations. Bergwerff demanded faster yet secure tire loading operations. We have equipped their tire transport certified, high volume and robust huckepack curtainsiders with XLS curtains to guarantee the speed of their operations. We thank Bergwerff as a leading transportation company in the Netherlands for their investment in Kässbohrer. We will continue to meet their needs as partners in the future.”
Kässbohrer engineered its K.SCS M as a curtainside mega semi-trailer to optimize the just-in-time delivery challenges. Its robust chassis is suitable for every road condition and protected against corrosion with its KTL coating, covered by a 10 years warranty on no rust perforation. Its intermodal configuration with train loading brackets for intermodal transportation increases overall efficiency and is the perfect choice for eco-conscious fleets. Its special XLS curtains provide EN 12642 XL certification without the need to install side planks between the middle pillars, offering easy access to the load: the side curtain can be easily slid open, allowing the loading process to begin faster. With no side planks required, the risk of losing them is eliminated as well, and the driver will save both time and energy during the loading process. For increased cargo safety, the vehicle can equipped with options such as an immobilizer and anti-theft curtain.
